LTC is committed to providing access to all writers of African descent, regardless of age, experience, or whether they have agent representation. We recognize how difficult it is to not only get your work produced, but also to get the space, time, and resources aligned for development. LTC seeks to be a nurturing and collaborative home base for playwrights, directors, and actors.
If you have a new play that you are passionate about and ready to explore over a series of readings and discussions with a team of actors, a director, and a dramaturge, please contact LTC.
We recently celebrated our 2nd year. Our resources are minimal. So, we make no promises for an immediate production with bells and whistles. What we do have is 25 years professional experience, we know EVERYBODY (pretty much), a dream to employ more Black artists, a passion for theatre, and drive. This can take you far! As most professional playwrights know, readings and workshops over time, is crucial to the developmental process of their play.
We have access to a “meeting space”, a 66-seat Black Box theatre in Harlem, and we know lots of people, plus your family, and friends.
We are not here to judge the genre or style of work. You will NEVER hear us say, “That’s not Black theatre!” We know and applaud that African people come in all shapes and sizes. If this is true for you, yours is an experience we want to hear and celebrate. Send your play! We’ll do the genealogy search later!
