"We Shall Overcome"

Premise: Set against the backdrop of the 1945 Charleston Cigar Factory strike, this limited series follows two working-class families as they navigate a pivotal moment in labor and civil rights history. For six months, thousands of women fought not just for political change, but for sisterhood, respect, and humanity, reaching across color lines in a struggle that would echo through the civil rights movement and around the world.

Premise: Set in the tumultuous year of 1964 at Harlem's Apollo Theater, this series follows a fearless young production manager nurturing the greatest acts in the history of soul music while navigating a world in the throes of revolution. Written with Stephen Anderson.

The Second Rounder placement was achieved by approximately 20% of this year’s submissions.

"Chrome"

Premise: In 1950s Detroit, a small group of women break through the glass ceiling at General Motors, restricted to designing car interiors. Among them, a courageous Black woman named "Harry" passes as white, becoming a catalyst for change. Against the backdrop of urban renewal and labor unrest, the series explores the spectrum of American society. Written with Stephen Anderson.

Premise: After personal losses, 60-something Shirley Campbell discovers an unexpected talent for funeral planning. She launches a personalized business, bringing dignity and celebration to life's final chapter while confronting her own grief.

"Harlem's Finest: The Reynolds Agency"

Premise: In 1947 Harlem, former WWII code-breaker Ida B. Reynolds leads a diverse team of investigators, solving local crimes while navigating the vibrant, complex world of the Harlem Renaissance. As they tackle weekly mysteries, they uncover a larger plot involving art theft, forgery, and a scheme to erase Black cultural contributions.

"American Morning"

Premise: In 1950s Washington D.C., spirited Lizzy Gold and her two BIPOC girlfriends navigate the early television era. As Lizzy strives to become the first woman to anchor a TV news program, the trio faces challenges of corruption, sexism, and Cold War politics. Written with Stephen Anderson.

"Hush-Hush"

Premise: Set in 1960 Las Vegas, this 30-minute comedy follows a nebbishy FBI agent and a rogue tabloid writer as they team up to solve crimes and uncover government corruption and political scandals at the highest levels. Written with Stephen Anderson.
